ScoutingSCOUTINGThe First United Methodist Church of Trenton is a proud partner with the Boy Scouts of America and sponsors Scouting units as part of its youth program. The Boy Scouts of America is youth development and educational program that prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. This is done in a structured program of fun and adventurous activities. CUB SCOUTING A family and home-centered program for boys in the first through fifth grade. Cub Scouting's emphasis is on quality program at the local level, where the most boys and families are involved. First-grade boys are called Tiger Cubs; second-grade boys are called Wolf Cub Scouts, and third-grade boys are called Bear Cub Scouts; and Fourth- and fifth-grade boys are called Webelos (WE'll BE LOyal Scouts) and participate in more advanced activities that begin to prepare them to become Boy Scouts. Cub Scout units are called Packs and those are made up of units called Dens. FUMCT currently sponsors the following Cub Scout units: Cub Scout Pack 159 Contact: Laurel Ligon, Laurel.Ligon@hcahealthcare.com Future Activities (Fellowship Hall)**: February 21-Pinewood Derby at 6:00 PM March 28-Blue and Gold Banquet at 6:00 PM April 18-Webelos I crossover at 6:00 PM, the location is TBA **The events listed above are not all scheduled events for the Cub Scouts but ones that are held in the FUMCT Fellowship Hall. Boy Scouts meet every Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 in the church fellowship hall. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Troop 159 and it’s leaders are committed to offering the young men of our community every opportunity to experience leadership roles, in the hopes they will use what they have learned here, in all their future endeavors.
